Independent Flair League...
… it’s today a unique professional bar tendering competition of league character in Poland focusing on technical aspects of a bartender’s work. The year 2011 is the seventh year of play-offs and the sixth season of competition in Poland.
The League has promoted not only the professional bar tendering and the Flair style, but also bartenders recognisable in the milieu of "show business". Play-offs of the Independent Flair League promoted such names as Tomek Małek or Marek Posłuszny known to Poles mostly from the last year’s show "I’ve got a talent".
The League’s aim was to combine independency, professionalism as well as reliability and objectivity of judges - the most important element of each competition - not only in bar tendering. The main assumption of the IFL has been promotion and development of Working Flair (modern and spectacular art of guests serving as world’s standard of a bartender’s work, promotion and support of young talents of the bar tendering scene and integration of the bar tendering milieu. This division enabled a reliable assessment of the youngest participants who just started their adventure with bar tendering.
In 2011, the Independent Flair League, just as before, wants to promote young bar tenders by developing the junior category by means of granting better financial prizes for juniors and a close know-how cooperation with bar tenders, as well as direct explanations of the competition rules.
The IFL is so spectacular mostly thanks to the passion with which it is created. Clear-cut rules are also of importance - transparent rules, objective judges… The League was created as a combination of passion, friendship and know-how of the international bar tendering. It has been successfully implemented onto the Polish ground and brought fruit in form of real talents. It resulted in integration and proved that bar tendering can be an extreme challenge. The contestants who won in the League are now not only at the top of the Polish Flair, but have also wonderful results in the most prestigious bar tendering competitions in the world. There are more and more great international flair fighters taking part during the League play-offs. The last year’s final in Warsaw is a good example. The boxing ring starred the best ones – Tom Dyer, Bruno Vanzan, Danilo Oribe, Tomek Małek, Marco Canova, Gianluigi Bosco, Sebastian Oguic, Rafael Arce, Andrea Fiore and others…
After the international success of the IFL, the Independent Flair League will be again among the world’s biggest events of the Grand Slam under the patronage of the World Flair Association. Participation in the Grand Slam means, above all, a continuous cooperation on organisation of this event with the most renowned bar tendering names and groups from all over the world. Thanks to it, the IFL will be even more visible on the map of the most important international contests, above all thanks to the participation of international contestants and judges.
Judges of the International Flair League are active participants of FLAIR contests and events. They are coaches of the most popular bar tendering programs and trainings; active judges of other bar tendering competitions, famous authors of films and workbooks devoted to the Flair art.
I have only good things to say about the IFL competition hosted in Poland every year. I got involved with this project a couple of year's ago during one of the qualifiers in Sopot and was blown away by the professionalism and superior organisational skills that was on display. The productions was also absolutely fantastic and it most definitely showed other organisers of flair events where it could go. The IFL competitions in Poland is according to me one of the best organised events in the world and just keeps getting better every year. We at the World Flair Association is proud to be associated with the IFL and really lookoing forward working alongside Grzegorz Zieba and his team again this year for what we believe is going to be an outstanding year for flair and bartending in general – says Tug van den Bergh, Co Founder of the World Flair Associaiton
